Altia Corporation

Social Responsibility

The key areas of Altia’s social responsibility are its own personnel, marketing responsibility and product safety.

Work satisfaction in focus

Employment in Altia is mainly contract-based. The turnover of personnel varies by country and is relatively low, especially in the plant locations. Corresponding benefits are offered to full-time and temporary employees regarding central functions. Regular development discussions are organised with all employees.

Well established development discussions, goal setting and development plans based on the personnel survey are a key focus of our personnel work, as are decreasing sick leave and accidents at work. Personnel surveys are conducted yearly.

Preparing for the monopolies' code of conduct

In the future, social responsibility will expand to include the whole production chain as the Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian alcohol monopolies incorporate a Code of Conduct based on the principles of labour organisation ILO (International Labour Organisation) in their contracts.

Responsible Marketing

Marketing alcoholic beverages is highly regulated in many of Altia’s operating countries. In addition to legal regulations, the alcohol industry is also ready for voluntary based regulation.

Altia adheres to the principles enshrined in the Roadmap 2015 published by the European Confederation of Spirits Producers (CEPS), as well as to follow EFRD’s (European Forum for Responsible Drinking) Common Standards on Commercial Communications.

Altia produces and markets its products responsibly. The company encourages consumers to enjoy alcohol beverages moderately and responsibly.

Altia’s products are traceable

Consumers should always ensure the safety and origin of acquired alcoholic beverages. Altia analyses its own products for free if a consumer has any reason to question its authenticity.

Altia’s products are, with the exception of refillable bottles, continuously traceable to the specific production lots of the packaging and raw material producers. Continuous quality control is part of the Company’s risk management process.

Methanol analyses documented on a daily basis are taken from the certified production process of the Koskenkorva plant. In addition, ethanol samples are analysed in the official alcohol inspection laboratory of the EU, Alcohol Control Laboratory (ACL). Besides the analyses in the distillery, the Rajamäki plant examines every received raw material lot. The Svendborg bottling facility and the Tabasalu plant also have their own quality control laboratories.
